Winder Saint-who? That is most likely the question many fans wondered after the 10 names of the camp invitees were released. Saint-Cyr, a native of Haiti, is especially more puzzling as he is an academy alum that played four years at perennial powerhouse, Maryland. Most observers (like myself) were probably only aware of Dan Metzger, another NYRB alum, on the current Terps squad.
According to his profile on umterps.com, Saint-Cyr “played a critical role as a leader on a young Maryland squad” in only three appearances. Usually a senior year is the pinnacle of a collegiate career where one provides a significant impact ON the field as well as off it.
Despite making 18 starts as a red-shirted sophomore, his lack of recent playing time is a worrying sign for fans hoping he makes the roster. The highlight video above suggests he has enough talent and versatility for an evaluation, but odds are he does not make the team.
